Monday
Long awaited road trip fulfilled. I've always been telling my boy that I wanna go for food-hunting in Malacca & finally he set aside some time to make that happen. I would say August has been a very fun & fulfilling month. My boy is enjoying his sem break while I have so many breaks in-between which includes Raya holidays & a week long mid sem break. Perfect! I didn't have to feel bad that i'll be busy with classes & neglecting him.
Baby, myself & his friend wyncent joined us for the day. To begin, we made our way down south this monday at midmorning.. say about 10am and it took us 1.5hours to reached our destination. I'm a pretty organised person so I did my homework & made a checklist of places to visit. I'm the type of person that simply don't like wasting time deciding on where to go & what to do last min.
My first destination was Huang Chang Chicken Rice Restaurant, Batu Berendam.
Unfortunately, when we arrived, it was closed. There was a notice stating that they'll open on the 31st. What a bummer lahh!
Baby went over to the next door coffee shop and gathered news from fellow uncles that the owner's health was deteriorating and he now opens only from friday-sunday. So we've just missed it by a day..meh.. Those uncles suggested us to try Old Town Chicken Rice which is not too far away.
With our reliable gps from Wyncent's car we arrived at Old Town in no time.
Old Town Chicken Rice, Malim Jaya
I would say the steamed chicken was good. As far as I could remember, tastier than the overrated Hoe Kee at Jonker Street.
When in Malacca you wouldn't want to miss having chicken rice balls.. I know its just rice that is shaped up into a ball but its different from the usual that we have in KL.
Somehow shaping the rice into a ball makes it cuter and nicer to eat..
3 Pax of chicken + 3 plates of rice ball (7 rice balls each) + 2 drinks = RM 18.40
i'd say pretty reasonable :)
Next stop on the list was Jonker Street.
We parked at an open space car park directly opposite Casa Del Rio Hotel which is 2 mins walk from Jonker. RM 2 per entry (Weekdays).
If i'm not mistaken RM3 for weekends.
Wyncent & baby
Popular tourist spot..
Arrived at Jonker Street
Spotted uber cute 3D cards along our walk in Jonker
Chopsticks labelled with chinese character which I have no idea what isit for coz i don't know how to read chinese.. Yes i'm a banana :P
Ice cream shop
Having this brings back childhood memories. I remember i used to have this a lot when I was a little girl.. I had the mango one & he took blueberry
Jonker Street was filled with 'Jonker Gallery'..
3rd spot on the list was Jonker88. We popped in for Baba Durian Cendol. Who loves durian as much as I do? hee :)
Uncle preparing our Cendol
Baba Durian Cendol - RM 4
Geographer. Typical place where the ang mohs love to hangout & drink
Earlier we mentioned why not let's rent a bicycle and cycle around instead of walking. Just slumber ni but who knew they do have a shop that provides bicycle for rent.. For those of you who are interested, this is situated at Jalan Tukang Emas. It's one or two streets away from Jonker Street.
4th spot on the list. Calanthe Art Cafe, Jalan Hang Kasturi :)
They are popular for their 13 states coffee. If you're a coffee lover be sure to visit.
Love love the lovely ambiance inside. It's so cozy and homey..
Baby ordered set lunch. RM 10.90
He picked Calanthe Laksa set. Looks good. Smells good. Taste good. A perfect choice for those who can't stand spicy. It's not spicy at all & the portion is pretty huge
Ze guys
I had Green Tea Coffee - RM 5.95 (Green Tea & Local Coffee topped with whipped cream)
Love the foamy whipped cream sprinkled with green tea powder but didn't fancy the combination very much. A bit too bitter for my taste bud
Ordered this to share with ze guys. Their signature ice blended state coffee.
Melaka Bandar Bersejarah - RM 7.95
A cube of brownie that comes with baby's lunch set..
Sugar overdoseeee.. very sweeeeet
After settling the bill we explored the cafe
Interesting signage
More seats
Hugssss
Candid shot. One of my favourite shot ^__^
Love the owl poster..
More walking...
My boy loves to poke my nose for no reason. ewkss.. lol
Casa Del Rio Hotel
It wasn't gated nor fenced up so we explored the hotel for a bit.. so beautiful!
We managed to stop by the seashore for a bit. The weather was great and it was so windy..
Visited A Famosa..
*bishh bishh*
5th on the list. Nadeje for mille Crepe. I went to the one at Plaza Mahkota which is 2 mins away from Mahkota Parade. Been hearing so many good reviews about their mille crepe..
Mouthwatering Cakes..
We had cheesecake & it tasted just right. Not too rich nor sweet. Just nice for my tastebud.
Original can never go wrong & its always the safest choice. Both flavours were equally good
*thumbs up*
Last and final spot on the list.
Ban Lee Siang, Jalan Ong Kim Wee for Satay Celup.
Apparently its the BEST in town! I believe so cause the sauce was absolutely delicious.
Never have I tasted such yummy satay sauce!
mm i know having satay celup is not hygienic cuz you'll be sharing everyone's saliva once you dip your stick into the sauce. I don't re-dip my sticks once I bite em but I bet many others do.
Apparently the lady boss told us that they only change the pot of sauce once a week. Sounds gross but true.. Aiyaa who cares lah once in awhile, its okie :D
Satay sticks are priced at RM0.60/stick. So affordable.
Better than having lok lok back in KL where its freaking expensive.
Satay Celup is inexpensive and they a wide variety of fresh food for you to choose from.
We arrived around 6.30pm and it was almost fullhouse. We had to sit at the back lorong but it was pretty cooling. It was less crowded & less noisy. Me Like :)
Sorry didn't have many pics to share bcoz we were busy enjoying ourselves :D
We didn't split the bill equally cuz it won't be fair for me as I couldn't eat as much as the guys. So we pay for what we ate. I ate 14 sticks and it was only RM8.40. Not bad. Just 14 & it was enough to fill my stomach *yumss*
Shortly after that we made our way back to KL. That marks our food-hunting road trip to Malacca! :D
I had an amazing day with my boy. We walked quite a bit & i'm glad he was cool with that.
Thankgod for great weather. It wasn't even sunny nor it was bout to pour. I'd say PERFECT weather! My prayer worked :)
Plus, I'm glad that my 'places to visit list' was fulfilled. Thanks for making this trip so worthwhile and unforgettable, love! I truly enjoyed my day to the bits! I never been happier ♥ . Not forgetting, thanks to Wyncent too for your comfy ride, reliable gps & spending the entire day with us :D
This trip wouldn't be possible if it weren't for you guys! Big fat thankyouss :)
